Croissant

Get paid

How money moves from a supporter's tip to your bank account: Stripe Connect, your Stripe balance, payout schedules and where to check your payouts.

Updated

When someone buys you croissants, the money goes through Stripe and ends up in your bank account. Here is how that works.

From tip to bank

  1. A supporter pays on your page through Stripe Checkout.
  2. Stripe processes the payment and takes its processing fee.
  3. Croissant's 1% platform fee is deducted.
  4. The rest lands in your connected Stripe account balance.
  5. Stripe pays out your balance to your bank account on its payout schedule.

Croissant does not hold your money. It goes to your Stripe account, and Stripe handles the payout.

Payout timing

Stripe decides when payouts happen. The schedule depends on your country and your account, and new accounts often have a short waiting period before the first payout. After that, payouts usually arrive regularly without you needing to do anything.

You can see your balance, upcoming payouts and past payouts in your Stripe Express dashboard.

Before you can get paid

Your page can only take payments after you connect Stripe and finish onboarding. If Stripe later asks for more information, payouts may be paused until you provide it, so keep an eye on emails from Stripe.

Seeing your tips

Your Croissant dashboard shows your supporters, their messages and your totals. Use it to see who has supported you and to reply to supporters. For payout details and bank transfers, use Stripe.

What gets deducted

Two fees come out of each tip: Croissant's 1% fee and Stripe's processing fee. On a 5 dollar tip in the US, that is about 5 cents to Croissant and about 45 cents to Stripe, leaving you roughly 4.50. The full breakdown is in Fees.

Refunds and disputes can also reduce your balance. See Refunds and disputes.

Taxes

Tips are usually income. Croissant does not give tax advice, so check the rules where you live or ask a tax professional.
