Reply to supporters
Read supporter messages in your Croissant dashboard and reply to them. Learn how replies to public and private messages show on your page.
Updated
Supporters can leave a message with their tip. Replying is a simple way to say thanks, and it shows new visitors that real people support your work.
Where to find messages
Open your dashboard. You will see your supporters, their messages and your totals. Each entry shows the supporter's name, if they gave one, how many croissants they bought and their message.
Public and private messages
When supporters leave a message, they can choose to make it private.
- Public messages appear on your page for everyone to see.
- Private messages are only visible to you in your dashboard.
Supporters who do not add a name appear without one. Respect that choice when you reply.
How to reply
- Find the message in your dashboard.
- Write your reply.
- Save it.
For public messages, your reply is shown on your public page, under the supporter's message. For private messages, your reply stays out of public view, since the message itself is not shown on your page.
Writing good replies
You do not need to write much. A few ideas:
- Thank the supporter by name if they gave one.
- Mention what their tip helps with.
- Answer their question if they asked one.
- Keep it friendly and short.
Remember that replies to public messages are visible to anyone who visits your page, so avoid sharing personal details.
What replies are not
Replies are not email. Croissant does not send your reply to the supporter's inbox, and supporters do not need an account, so there is no inbox on their side. If you want to reach a supporter directly, they need to share contact details with you themselves.
