Fees

Croissant keeps pricing simple: a 1% fee on each tip and nothing else. There is no monthly fee, no subscription and no setup cost.

The two fees on every tip

Croissant's fee: 1%

Croissant takes 1% of each tip. That is what pays for running the site.

Stripe's processing fee

Stripe charges its own fee for processing the payment. For US cards it is roughly 2.9% plus 30 cents per payment. It varies by country and by card type, for example international cards can cost more. This fee goes to Stripe, not to Croissant.

Example

A supporter buys you one croissant for 5 dollars, paid with a US card:

Because part of Stripe's fee is fixed per payment, very small tips lose a larger share to fees. Setting your croissant price a little higher, or encouraging supporters to buy a few at once, helps. You can change the price in Customize your page.

What you never pay

• No monthly or yearly fee
• No subscription
• No charge for having a page that receives no tips

If nobody tips, you pay nothing.

Other costs to know about

• Refunds and disputes. If a tip is refunded or disputed, the amount comes out of your balance, and Stripe charges a dispute fee for chargebacks. See Refunds and disputes.
• Currency conversion. If your bank account is in a different currency from your page, Stripe or your bank may charge for converting.
